Saunum's Air L U.S. instructions multiply the base room volume by 1.5 for uninsulated log/plank/stave construction and add 3.0 ft³ per 1 ft² of glass, tile, brick, concrete or stone.
After the effective volume is calculated, the heater must fall inside the exact model's published room range. Electrical supply, controls, clearances and room height remain separate checks.

The table mirrors the reference sets used by the calculator. Unknown supply no longer produces a dead end: it shows separate 240V and 208V reference matches, but you must confirm the actual supply before treating any model as a verified range match.
A 7 ft × 6 ft × 8 ft insulated room has a base volume of 336 ft³. Add a 24 ft² glass door and the effective volume rises differently by manufacturer methodology. HUUM adds about 79 ft³ (24 × 3.3), while Saunum adds 72 ft³ (24 × 3.0). Harvia's published metric method is converted from 1.2 m³ per m² and produces a larger adjustment. The calculator shows each number rather than blending them into an unexplained average.
This matters near the edge of a heater's published room range. A heater that appears large enough from bare room dimensions may no longer qualify after the glass or masonry area is accounted for.
The calculated effective volume answers one narrow but important question: which heater room ranges are large enough for the documented construction. It does not decide whether the whole sauna fits the house or property.
