Choosing an outdoor sauna is a project decision, not just a product decision. The footprint, foundation, delivery path, electrical run, heater, glazing, local climate and usable bench layout all need to work together before a model is a sensible fit.

Choose the outdoor form before comparing model names

“Outdoor sauna” covers several different structures. A barrel, cabin, cube or larger garden-style sauna can all live in a backyard, but they use the available space differently. Barrel sauna

Start with the site: firm, flat, accessible and serviceable

Electrical distance can change the real project cost

Heater sizing starts with the heated interior, not the exterior shell

Outdoor models are often marketed by their exterior dimensions, but heater sizing begins with the finished interior room and the heater manufacturer’s own sizing method. Glazing, masonry, logs or other uninsulated surfaces can increase effective heating volume. This matters particularly for panoramic outdoor models with large glass areas.

Do not compensate for cold weather or glass by simply choosing the next larger heater without checking documentation.
