Traditional and infrared saunas solve the heating problem differently. Compare the actual heat system, electrical path, room format and installation requirements before choosing a category.
Traditional and infrared saunas use different heating architectures. A traditional room uses a heater and stones to heat the room and create löyly when water is added to the stones. An infrared cabin uses radiant heating panels or elements around the enclosure. That difference is enough to change temperature, electrical planning, room design and the type of product you shop for.

A compact infrared cabin may be attractive when the available indoor space and electrical service fit a manufacturer-listed plug-in model. Golden Designs currently lists 1–2 person cabins at 120V/15A and larger examples at 120V/20A. That does not make all infrared products plug-and-play; it shows why the exact model specification should guide the decision.

Traditional heat has a broad outdoor product ecosystem. Site preparation and heater installation can matter more than the indoor-vs-outdoor price of the room itself.
